 2011 Entry Draft / trade analysis with Will Moran

 

With the major shake-up in the National Hockey League just prior to the annual draft, I prompted Will Moran of Goal Mouth Radio to analyze the trades. We were preparing to complete a show to cover the upcoming free agency malee and provide insight into the post-draft period, but the trades spurred intrigue.

During coverage on TSN of the top seven picks in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft held in Minnesota, Will and I discuss the intricacies of each of the major three trades over the past two days and how they impact each team and the players involved.

Of course, our chat includes Jeff Carter and his new home on the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Jakub Voracek and a first-round pick (eventually Sean Couturier) and a third-round pick. We move into the blockbuster move by the Los Angeles Kings to pull ex-Philadelphia Flyers' captain Mike Richards into the fold, after sending Wayne Simmonds, Brayden Schenn, and a second-round pick the other way.
